Multidimensional materials are the next generation of conventional tile. They give your space the illusion of depth to any wall or room surface. It is an infallible way to add texture and innovate a visual environment.

Architectural tiles are the perfect artistic feature to create a room with intrigue and an innovative edge. Designers and architects are using these products in restaurants, hotels and residential areas. Stone Source’s three distinct collections: Brac, Bloc, and Celosia, are unique, handcrafted materials that experiment with pattern, texture and dimension.

Break the Negative Space with a Room Divider or Featured Wall

Partitions can create privacy without disturbing the overall cohesion of a space. The artful sculptural partitions of Bloc and Brac can turn an ordinary room into a stimulating visual experience. These architectural walls are created so that space can be reinterpreted in a new way. They are composed of a terracotta brick that plays with structure and dimension. Brac , designed by Milan-based artist Nathalie Du Pasquier. Brac can be arranged both vertically or horizontally, generating unexpected interplays of light and shadow within an environment. While Bloc, from French design duo Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, has open holes that can stand empty or include a wooden tube to play with bright patterning.

Conjure a Visual Experience

When designing the Roman numeral-inspired tile Celosia, Patricia Urquiola needed an earthly, tactile material, which did not pretend to be anything else. “I was looking for a warm element, both visually and to the touch” she adds. The 10cm thick, unique shape enables endless solutions for indoor and outdoor spaces. The bold look forces an emotional pause to a rather busy environment like a hotel lobby or restaurant. The functional design of Celosia on the back wall of the Hail Fellow Well Met café breathes new life to a traditional wallcovering.

While traditional tile can appear flat, the high aesthetic-function of 3D tiles can spark visual appeal that invites users to reach out and touch their surroundings.

Architectural Element

Texture plays an important role in creating the mood of a space. The glossy and matte finishes of Bloc; or the natural terracotta surface of Celosia contrast and balance the overall design aesthetic. Installing rows or columns of these tiles can transform any bar area or backwall into an original design opportunity. The modern contemporary look of each of these tiles can transform empty pocket of space into a work of art.
