Veneto Glass Tiles
|
|
Description
Veneto Glass Tiles are the result of centuries of expertise
and artistic mastery in Venetian glass production. High quality
oven strengthened glass tiles are produced in 3/8"
thickness for coordination to stone and ceramic tile thickness,
rounded corners, added durability and depth of color. Colors
are applied to the back of each tile. Used as an accent or
field, award winning (Adex Gold Metal) Veneto Glass Tiles will
add colorful zest to any design.
Colors
Tiles are available in forty-eight standard colors. Custom colors
can be produced with reasonable minimum quantity orders. There are
two sample boxes, Box I and Box II. Box II contains nineteen
colors, which were introduced in November, 2003.
Finishes
All colors are offered in two finishes: Clear, a glossy see-through
surface (L Series), and Satin, a lightly textured translucent surface
(LS Series). Unlike other satin finish glass tiles,
Veneto Glass Tiles are not sandblasted, are not porous, and do not need
to be sealed.
Sizes
Standard nominal (and actual) sizes are:
2"x2" (1.97"x1.97"), 2"x4" (1.97"x3.94"), 2"x6" (1.97"x5.91"),
2"x8" (1.97"x7.87"), 2"x12" (1.97"x11.81"), 3"x3" (2.95"x2.95"),
3"x6" (2.95"x5.91"), 3"x16" (2.95"x15.75"), 4"x4" (3.94"x3.94"),
6"x6" (5.91"x5.91"), 6"x12" (5.91"x11.81"), 8"x8" (7.87"x7.87"),
8"x16" (7.87"x15.75"), 10"x10" (9.84"x9.84"), 12"x12" (11.81"x11.81"),
12"x16" (11.81"x15.75"), and 16"x16" (15.75"x15.75").
In addition, 1"x1" (0.99"x0.99"), 1"x2" (0.99"x1.97") and 1"x8"
(0.99"x7.87") are offered as accents.
The 1"x1", 1"x2", 1"x8" and 2"x2" tiles are offered with a mesh
backing or loose upon request. The tile thickness is 3/8".
Shapes
There are eight molding shapes, offered in all colors,
in clear and sandblasted finishes, except for profile
'D', which is only offered in sandblasted. See the
molding profiles
at the bottom of this page. Expect color variations between
field tiles and mouldings of the same color code. Tiles can be
ordered factory cut to practically any shape, including cutouts
for receptacle covers.
Edges
The standard edge has a slightly irregular handcrafted appearance.
Square edge tiles are also available in 1.57" thickness (4mm)
in all colors, and in 1"x1", 2"x2", 4"x4", 6"x6" and 8"x8"
sizes.
Applications
Veneto Glass Tiles are recommended for interior and exterior
walls. In addition, satin finish tiles are suitable as interior
floor tiles, and exceed ASTM minimum requirements for breaking
strength (ASTM C648: 872 lbs.) and slip resistance (ASTM C1028:
dry - 0.66; wet - 0.62). Other applications include column
cladding, countertops, furniture, bar fronts, swimming pools and
numerous other uses.
Installation
Underlayment should be either fully cured concrete or properly
installed cement backerboard, and must be dry, stable, flat and
free of foreign substances, with no risk of water seepage.
Recommended adhesive is white colored Laticrete 4237 Latex
Thin-Set Mortar Adhesive, used with Laticrete 211 Crete Filler
Powder, or Laticrete 254 Platinum Thin-Set, mixed with water.
Apply a thin layer of adhesive, spreading the adhesive smoothly in
order to enable it to dry evenly. Back-butter each tile to ensure
full coverage with adhesive. Do not use a jagged edge applicator.
Existing joints in subsurface must be carried through tile work.
Expansion joints should be installed at all "changes of plane" and
where tile abuts restraining surfaces. Recommended grout joint
width is at least 1/8". For 1/8" joints, grout with un-sanded grout,
Laticrete 1600 series. For joints larger than 1/8", use sanded grout,
Laticrete 1500 series or SpectraLock Pro. Silicone caulking sealant
must be installed in all corner joints in the place of grout.
Follow manufacturer's installation instructions. Latricrete
offers a ten year Labor and Material Warranty upon adherence to
the above recommendations.
Cutting Tiles
Use a standard new, sharp blade suitable for cutting glass tiles,
which must be constantly kept wet with water. Cutting the
pieces with the colored surface turned upwards and taping both
sides will reduce chipping. Cutting must not be carried out near
the edges of the individual pieces. Smooth off any sharp edges
with sandpaper. Holes can be made with a specific drill bit for
glass with a diameter up to 5/16". Apply water continually while
drilling.
