Luxe Appeal

The CityView Racquetball Club, (Long Island City, New York) with its sweeping views of Manhattan, presented Ron Fleeger, principal of Fleeger Inc, Interior Architecture and Design, with the design challenge of creating an interior that could parallel the splendor of the city skyline.

For this project, Fleeger sought out neutral and textural finishes with luxe appeal to complement a modern and sophisticated schematic. By juxtaposing rough and smooth textures, and by using stones of varying size and depth, he was able to create a unique application - one that would mimic the contrasting architecture of the city.

The volcanic stone, Pompeii, was used with a scarpaletto finish to create the floors. The limestone, Courtaud, was used with a honed finish and an articulated surface to create walls with a smooth texture and varying depth.

Additional Stone Source Products Used:

  • Cementi, porcelain tile (Walls, Elevator Floors)
  • Zebrano, porcelain tile (Locker Rooms)
  • Glacier Glass Tiles (Shower Stalls, Spa Treatment Rooms)
  • Crystal White, Chiseled Finish, marble (Spa)
