Description
Montauk, a glazed ceramic tile series, was designed specifically to complement our natural stone products. Produced domestically in upstate New York, Montauk meets the requirements set by the LEED building rating system and may be used to earn LEED MR Credit 5.1.
Colors + Finishes
The Montauk series includes twenty-two colors and three finishes: Opaque Gloss, Matte and Satin Crackle. Each finish is available in select colors and sizes.
Due to local raw materials and unique manufacturing techniques, variations in body, size and color from tile to tile are to be expected. This is considered desirable due to its hand-crafted process. Crackle and crazing in the glaze may appear before, during or after installation, therefore we recommend a deep penetrating sealer before grouting.
Sizes
Nominal tile sizes are 4"x4", 6"x6", 3"x6", 3"x9", 3"x12", 4"x12" and 4"x16".
Applications
Montauk is suitable for interior walls and floors including heavy-traffic commercial flooring applications. For exterior applications please consult with your local Stone Source representative. Montauk is not recommended for areas of standing water.
Installation + Maintenance
Tiles can be installed using standard installation methods for thinset adhesives. To avoid staining, tiles with a Matte or SatinCrackle finish should be sealed with a deep penetrating sealant prior to grouting. A 1/8"-3/16" grout joint is recommended. Use high quality adhesive from manufacturers such as Laticrete and Mapei, following manufacturers' recommendations, depending on conditions.
