Description Glacier Glass Tiles are high quality glass, cut into various sizes and shapes and back painted. Edges are straight cut, resulting in an elegant, colorful, translucent, contemporary look. Additional product lines by Glacier include the following: Floor Glass; Milk Glass; Rainbow, Laser, Metallic and Vision. Colors and Finishes There are fifty-nine colors in the standard color line. All colors are offered in both clear and satin finishes. Standard color blends, gradient blends, plus patterns and shapes are available. Custom colors, blends and patterns can be produced. Sizes, Shapes and Patterns Glacier tiles are available in the following nominal sizes, 5/16" thickness. Mosaic (mesh mounted with 5/64" grout space): 5/8"x5/8", 5/8"x2", 5/8"x6", 1"x1", 1"x2", 1"x12", 2"x2", 1" dots. Loose tiles: 1"x12", 3"x6", 4"x4", 4"x8", 4"x12", 8"x8", 12"x12", 12"x24", 18"x18", 20"x20". The 18"x18" and 20"x20" sizes are offered in a limited number of colors. Check color availability before specifying. Standard color blends, gradient blends, plus patterns and shapes can be produced. Custom colors, blends and patterns can be produced.
Applications Glacier tiles can be used on residential or commercial, interior or exterior walls. In addition, satin finish tiles are suitable for interior medium traffic floors. Common applications include: bathroom walls and floors, kitchen counter backsplashes, column wraps, furniture fronts, swimming pool interiors and other decorative surfaces. Installation Underlayment should be either fully cured concrete or properly installed cement backerboard, and must be dry, stable, flat and free of foreign substances, with no risk of water seepage. Recommended adhesive is white colored Laticrete 4237 Latex Thin-Set Mortar Adhesive, used with Laticrete 211 Crete Filler Powder, or Laticrete 254 Platinum Thin-Set, mixed with water. Apply a thin layer of adhesive, spreading the adhesive smoothly in order to enable it to dry evenly. Back-butter each tile to ensure full coverage with adhesive. Do not use a jagged edge applicator. Existing joints in subsurface must be carried through tile work. Expansion joints should be installed at all "changes of plane" and where tile abuts restraining surfaces. Recommended grout joint width is at least 1/8". For 1/8" joints, grout with un-sanded grout, Laticrete 1600 series. For joints larger than 1/8", use sanded grout, Laticrete 1500 series or SpectraLock Pro. Silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner joints in the place of grout. Follow manufacturer's installation instructions. Latricrete offers a ten year Labor and Material Warranty upon adherence to the above recommendations. Cutting Tiles Use a standard new, sharp blade suitable for cutting glass tiles, which must be constantly kept wet with water. Cutting the pieces with the colored surface turned upwards and taping both sides will reduce chipping. Cutting must not be carried out near the edges of the individual pieces. Smooth off any sharp edges with sandpaper. Holes can be made with a specific drill bit for glass with a diameter up to 5/16". Apply water continually while drilling. |
