Course Description
Our goal is to arm specifiers with a working knowledge of the geological properties of the more popular natural stones. With this information, architects will be better able to specify material, appropriate not only by color and design but aptness to intended application. Discussions will be enhanced with hands on aids of limestone, marble, granite, slate, quartzite and other siliceous materials. Issues covered include identification, chemical composition, suitability and maintainability.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the program the participants will be able to:
  - Identify geological properties of a full range of natural stone.
  - Determine environment/sustainability of different materials.
  - Specify appropriate material for safety, suitability and maintenance.
  - Acquire the knowledge to specify natural stones for successfully completed projects.
